RUN TO THE GULF STATION

Sheriff's Report:

The day started with our morning coffee at Chirnside Park. Bruce led our convoy of 10 vehicles to the National Trust GULF STATION in Yarra Glen. The station was set up in 1840 and originally comprised of 25,000 acres. In 1860 William Bell  bought the property and with his wife had 8 children, 3 of whom married, with the remaining 5 living on the property for their entire lives.
The last of the family died in 1951 and in 1953 the land, now 640 acres, was purchased by Jack Smedley.
The homestead was run without electricity and water came from a dam and a well. The building is nearly the same as it was originally after some repairs. The rooms were very small with an open fire place in each as it would have been extremely cold in the winter.
Our group of 23 was broken up and a volunteer guide gave each group   detailed information.
After our tours, we all then made our way to the Grand Hotel in Yarra Glen for lunch. The size of the meals were huge with some members not being able to finish. Other Members had intended to come but were unfortunately unable to make it.
We would like to thank Dave and Geoff who organised this outing & lunch.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Sheriff's Report:

A beautiful sunny morning gave us a pleasant drive to the Mountain View Hotel in Glen Waverley. Our club was having a Christmas in July celebration with 31 people attending.
Many members were at the Hotel at least 30 minutes before our official starting time. We had two big and two small tables reserved for our group.
The meals were quickly ordered, received and eaten. Young Bianca gave us a splendid speech thanking the Club for its donation to each person's funds and the Treasurer, Chris, who dispensed the cash. Plus Dave who organised the event.

CRUISE TO RIDDELLS CREEK

Sheriff's Report:

The day started with a very slow run from Forest Hill to Rockbank via the Eastern Freeway and Footscray. After our morning coffee at the BP Service Centre at Rockbank, 12 Valiants set off at 11:20 for the cruise to Riddell’s Creek.
Geoff led us on a very scenic route through Bullengarook and Gisborne to the Riddells Creek Hotel.
We were met here by others who had come straight from Geelong.
Our meals were quickly and  efficiently delivered by using every one's names, rather than the table number. I chose the roast pork belly which was delicious. After much chatter we all headed home.
Thanks to Geoff and Dave for organising the day. 27 people attended.

NATIONAL REUNION 2022

The 9th National R&S Chrysler Valiant Reunion was held in Victoria from Sunday 13th to Sunday 20th of November, 2022.

Hosted by the Victorian Club, our Rally covered a lot of ground. Beginning in Albury, we covered locations including; Yackandandah, Beechworth, Myrtleford, Bright, Mt. Hotham, Omeo, Bruthen, Lakes Entrance, Maffra, Glenmaggie, Moe, Warragul, Walhalla, Wonthaggi and Phillip Island. Culminating in a record attended Show 'N' Shine.

Despite difficult conditions at the time, with floods in Gippsland and poor visibility over the Alpine area, the Reunion was a great success.
